Sunday Service Recap: June 29, 2014

June 29, 2014

(It was striped shirt day at Redeemer Church. All the coolest dudes wore one.)

Redeemer Church

Champaign-Urbana, IL

Call to Worship: Across the Lands written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend

Time of confession

Assurance of Pardon: Colossians 2:13-15

Song: Blessed Redeemer written by Fanny Crosby, performed by Leigh Nash

This is a great song to sing after a time of confession and being reminded of the truths of the gospel.  Praising Christ as our redeemer is a natural response for Christians who understand their sinful condition apart from Christ and who they are in light of Christ’s redemption.

Song:  O Great God written by Bob Kauflin

Scripture Reading: Psalm 10

Prayer: Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center, Champaign

We spent some time praying for a local pregnancy resource ministry in Champaign.  Their mission statement is “We are committed to saving the lives of unborn children by promoting life-affirming options and providing practical assistance, while sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed, and to minister restoration to those who have been wounded by the trauma of abortion.”

Song: I Lift My Eyes written by David Crowder

Song: Unending Songs written by Jack Mooring, Leeland Mooring, Paul Moak

Sermon by Chet Daniels: Ephesians 6:5-9, Christian Households: Slaves and Masters

Song: Take My Life and Let it Be by Chris Tomlin, Frances Ridley Havergal, Henri Abraham Cesar Malan, Louie Giglio

Benediction: Colossians 3:11
